WHAT ARE CONCENTRATES & EXTRACTS?

If you’re new to the world of concentrates and dabs, welcome! You’re gonna love it here! Let’s start with the basics: Concentrates and extracts are the same thing! Concentrates are products that are made by extracting THC and all the other good stuff from dried cannabis buds. These products are called concentrates because they are made of concentrated THC after it’s been extracted.

There are a few different ways to do this process with each method creating a different type of extract - live resin, crumble, shatter and distillate being just a few of those products. Concentrates come in different consistencies: dry like crumble or wet and runny like sauce, so there’s something for everyone, no matter your preference.

Cannabis concentrates, like our Live Resin & Diamond Infused Sauce, can be added to blunt or joints, used to make carts and disposables, infused into edibles, or smoked on their own in a modified bong called a dab rig. The versatility of cannabis extracts and concentrates is what has helped them to become a cornerstone of the legal cannabis market.

WHAT IS DABBING?

Now that you know what concentrates are, let’s talk about dabbing. Dabbing is the process of vaporizing cannabis concentrates or extracts, then inhaling that vapor. There are two main types of glass used to dab: dab rigs and nectar collectors.

Nectar collectors, also called dab pens or dab straws, are smaller and more portable than rigs. These portable devices are used by heating up the tip of one end, either electronically or with a torch, then touching the heated side to your concentrates while inhaling from the other end. Dab straws are quicker and easier to use than a rig, but the hits can be a bit harsher because there’s no water filtration system like there is with a bong or a rig.

Rigs are a bit more complicated than dab straws and require more equipment to be enjoyed properly. Structurally, a rig looks very similar to a bong but with some slight variations and a different method of consumption. Instead of a bowl, rigs have either  banger or a nail which serve the same purpose - to hold your extracts as you prepare to inhale them. In general, nails are made of titanium and tend to be smaller, flatter and more durable than bangers; bangers look like tiny buckets, are made of quartz and usually have a hollow joint attached to the side that allows for better airflow while you inhale. The process is similar to smoking a bowl from a bong, but with a few extra steps.

GETTING STARTED WITH BLVK LABEL CONCENTRATES

Getting started with a rig is a bit of an investment. A good rig is going to run you a minimum of $30 to $40 for a smaller size. Your rig will come with either a banger or a nail, which is where you put your concentrates to be dabbed. You’re also going to need a dab tool, a metal stick for scooping extracts and putting them in your rig; a blow torch for heating your banger or nail and a carb cap. A carb cap sits on top of your banger or nail and helps you conserve that precious smoke in between rips. Some people try to dab without a carb cap and you can do it, but it’s extremely wasteful, and when you're working with Ultra Premium Sauce like ours, you’re not gonna wanna waste a drop of golden goodness.

When dabbing, there are two main ways to prepare your dabs: cold start dabs and hot start dabs. In both cases, you load your nail with cannabis concentrate, like our terpy new Fatso Live Resin & Diamond Infused Sauce, and inhale the vapor as your concentrates melt down into oooey gooey goodness.

Whenever you get your hands on some premium quality extracts, like our sweet and spicy Gushers Live Resin and Diamond Infused Sauce, you’re gonna wanna make sure you get the most out of it. Trust us when we say, you do not want to burn off the deliciously intoxicating terps in our Gushers Sauce! Even worse than overheating your terps is overheating your nail, adding in your extracts too fast and seeing your gooey golden sauce go up in smoke! Avoid all that drama and do a cold start dab instead!

MEET THE NEW STRAINS

If all this talk about dabs, sauce and nectar collectors is getting you in the mood for a big rip, then look no further, BLVK Label has your back! As always, we strive to bring you all the absolute best extracts available. We know you have a lot of choices out there when it comes to cannabis extracts, which is why we’re constantly innovating and cooking up new shit to keep you guys coming back. Our latest drop is one of stoniest yet. Buckle up kids, and prepare yourselves for our ultra-premium Live Resin & Diamond Infused Sauce in two terp-tastic flavors: Gushers and Fatso.

Both Gushers and Fatso are indica dominant hybrids, meaning that the high is more balanced than a traditional indica. Instead of getting couch locked and passing tf out before you get a chance to enjoy your high, both strains will relax your body while stimulating your mind just enough to bring on a peaceful euphoria rather than a full body knockout.

Fatso’s genetics are influenced by Legends OG and Garlic Cookies, which passes on it’s spicy aroma and mellow, euphoric head high. Garlic Cookies was created by crossbreeding Girl Scout Cookies with Chemdawg, two legendary strains in their own right.

Fatso is a heavy hitter when it comes to THC, coming in at a hefty 28% from the raw flower alone. Take all that and dab it as a double-infused sauce and it's a KTFO-worthy strain, no cap.

Gushers is Fatso’s sweeter sister. Created by crossbreeding Gelato 41 with Triangle Kush, the sweet, gummy-like candy retains and builds on the explosively sweet notes from its Gelato lineage. Triangle Kush comes through with just a hint of spice, creating a sweet but balanced flavor and aroma.

Gushers is known for its buzzy head high that eventually settles into a nicely sedating head high. Perfect for a night of binging the newest season of your favorite show after a long ass week.

HOW DOES DABBING COMPARE TO SMOKING?

If you’re not new to weed, but new to dabbing, this next section is for you. Smoking and dabbing may seem similar, light it up and inhale, but in reality they’re very, very different. The biggest difference between the two is what you’re actually consuming.

When you smoke, whether you roll joints, pack bowls or use a different method, you’re using dried cannabis buds in their holistic state. Dried cannabis flower hasn’t been put through any additional processes to change its flavor or potency. It grew from the ground, was picked, dried, then smoked.

Extracts, or concentrates and dabs if you like, are all much more potent than dried cannabis. Extracts are processed several times to eliminate other compounds found in cannabis until the THC is concentrated at crazy high levels. With so much THC, a little goes a long way. It may take you a few blunts or bowls before you green out on flower; one big hit of ultra-premium sauce like ours and you’ll be halfway to the moon, so as always, consume responsibly.

BLVK LABEL LEVELS UP YOUR SELF-CARE GAME

If the never-ending Panini has taught us anything, it's that we gotta take care of ourselves, mind and body. If smoking cannabis is already part of your self care routine, consider adding our double infused sauce to your self care arsenal. Dabbing is much cleaner for your body and better for your lungs than smoking. The water filtration, lack of smoke and smaller servings mean that you’re inhaling a cleaner product for less time and getting higher. The high is different, so switching totally may not be for you if you’re a regular smoker, but switching up a few sessions a week from dried flower to something super clean and pure like our new babies, Fatso and Gushers is definitely a healthier, cleaner way to get lit. Your mind and body will thank you.
